Garveys Co Championship Rd 2

Kilcummin 1-10 West Kerry 1-15

Our senior team bowed out of this year’s county championship in Kilcummin on Saturday last going down to a West Kerry side who were determined and impressive. Our team gave us two contrasting performances in either half. The first half was full of fast free flowing football with some fine scores numerous chances created and a half time lead of 7 points. The second half saw us struggle throughout and only manage two points in a period where the opposition scored nine points without reply. However there was a lot to enthuse about and the management team will know that with a higher level of fitness and injuries clearing up that this team can repeat that first half performance over an entire game in the season ahead.
Gavin O Connor, Daniel Moynihan and Mikey O Shea can be pleased with their first year playing Senior Co Championship while on Saturday Philip Casey, Kevin McCarthy, John McCarthy and Chris O Leary were to the fore.
Team and Scorers Brendan Kealy (0-3) Sean Brosnan, Daniel O Leary, William Maher, Gavin O Connor, Chris O Leary, Daniel Moynihan, Kevin Gorman, Shane McSweeney, Matthew Keane, Noel Duggan,)(0-1) Philip Casey,(0-2) Mikey O Shea, John McCarthy, Kevin McCarthy,(1-5) subs used Richie O Connor and John Devane
The focus now turns to preparing for the Club Championship relegation battle, Credit Union Co League and The O Donoghue cup where we are drawn away to Glenflesk in the first round.
The Junior team face Legion in the early round of the O’Sullivan Cup

Garveys Supervalue Co Championship Rd 1
Round 1 Mid Kerry 3-12 Kilcummin 1-13

Our supporters travelled in big numbers to Killorglin on Sunday last to support the lads in this first rd game and although the result was disappointing there was praise all round for a determined and disclipined performance. Great credit is due to the management team and players for their efforts against a strong Mid -Kerry team who boasted an array of Kerry players. While it was very much a team performance there was a number of stand out displays particularly from Brendan Kealy, Sean Brosnan, Philip Casey, Shane McSweeney, Noel Duggan and Kevin McCarthy. The team now face West Kerry in the losers round on Saturday next and will need to be successful to progress further in this competition. A special word of praise for Donal Dwyer and James Weldon who stepped forward to manage the team in the last two weeks with the support of Pat O Driscoll, John Fitzgerald and D.J.Fleming.
