Frewen Cup: Congratulations to St Brendans College Killarney on their Frewen Cup win today in Munster Colleges Football when they defeated Clonakilty 3-7 to 0-15.

With Daragh Keane scoring 2-3 , Cian Stack starting at centre back and Liam O Mahony and Joe O Connor coming off the bench there was plenty Kilcummin players in action.

Oran Lynch, Mark Fleming and Conor Finnegan were also included in the panel.

Pitch Signage: Kilcummin GAA has invested significantly in the club facilities over the past 5 years to support the growing numbers within our community. The club has just completed drainage works and resurfacing of the main pitch for the 2026 season.

To support the ongoing operation and development of the club facilities, pitch side business advertising signage is now available.

The club are offering businesses a number of options to avail of pitch side signage. The business signage year runs from 1st March to 28th February. The pitch side signs are 3m (10ft) long x 0.75m (2ft 6in) in height. The recommended information to be included in the pitch side signs are business name, business logo and contact details. Pink Night: The Ladies’ Committee of Kilcummin GAA Club are delighted to announce the return of its annual Pink Night, taking place in The Klub Bar on Saturday, January 3rd. Now in its twelfth year—and supporting Comfort for Chemo for the fifth year running—this much-loved event promises a fantastic evening of fun and fundraising for all.

The festivities begin at 8pm, with entertainment from Derry and Rosie Healy from 8 to 10:00pm, followed by Barry McGrath playing late into the night.

Kilcummin GAA Notes week ending 7th December 2025

Under 16’s: Our Under 16 team finally ended their long season on Sunday when they were defeated by Na Gaeil in County League Division 1 semifinal which took place in Caherselee in Tralee. Having put in an encouraging first half Kilcummin trailed 0-7 to 2-4 but a brace of early goals by Na Gaeil early into the second half took the game beyond the teams reach.

50th Anniversary: While not having anyone from the club directly involved in the Kerry golden era team of 1975-1986 it was great to see club stalwart Willie Maher take his place on stage at Gleneagle Arena last Friday night in Kerry GAA’s 50th year celebration. Willie who played his club football with Milltown/Castlemaine during that time has made a huge contribution to the club since his arrival as well as managing the senior team to Intermediate All Ireland glory in 2019. There were presentations to all Kerry players who played during 1975 to 1986 on the night.

Prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed Female and Best Dressed Male.

The festivities begin at 8pm, with entertainment from Derry and Rosie Healy from 8 to 10:00pm, followed by Barry McGrath playing late into the night.

Kilcummin GAA Notes week ending 30th November 2025

AGM: Maria Murphy is the new Chairperson of Kilcummin GAA following last night’s AGM which was held in front of a full hall at Kilcummin GAA club

Murphy who replaced Ciara Kelly said that she was “truly humbled and privileged with the trust that was bestowed upon her. I undertake this role with a sense of duty and pride, and with the greatest respect for the legacy of those who have served before me’

Murphy paid tribute to both Ciara Kelly and Nessa McCarthy who both ended their terms as chairperson and secretary respectively.

“I would like to express a profound thank you to both Ciara and Nessa for their leadership, professionalism and tireless commitment. Together they have guided the club with integrity and care, ensuring that our club and community flourished under their tenure. “

Replacing Nessa McCarthy is Grainne Lenihan who is now the new secretary of Kilcummin GAA.

Meanwhile Jonathan Curran is the clubs new Coaching Officer while all the remainder of the Executive remain in situ for 2026.

There was several presentations made to both Ciara and Nessa as a mark of their incredible commitment and dedication to the club during their tenures.

Under 16’s: Our Under 16 County League Division 1 semifinal against Na Gaeil was postponed on Sunday. The game will now take place this Sunday with a time and venue TBC.

Santa Visit: There was great excitement on Sunday last as Santa Claus took time out from his very busy schedule to drop into the club to meet with the boys and girls. There were plenty lists updated on the day and Santa revised many a plan for parents. Each family received a family photo and own personal video of the occasion along with a few surprises ahead of the big visit on Christmas Eve.

Juvenile Christmas Celebration: Sunday was a busy day in the club as our Juvenile awards and medal presentation was held in the club. The Annual event has become a favourite with the players who get the chance to meet up with a few teams receiving their medals for their teams’ achievements during the year. Among the winners were our very successful under 12 team, under 14 team, Feile team and our under 16B team who achieved successes during a long year.

East Kerry Final: Well done to our under 12 boys’ team who played at half time during last Sundays O’Donoghue Cup final to mark the 100 years of the East Kerry board. Kilcummin won the first senior league competition in 1925 and to mark that occasion the under 12 boys of Kilcummin and Laune Rangers (who were their opponents in 1925) played an exhibition match.

Church Gate Collection: The Kilcummin LGFA Church gate collection took place last weekend and we’d like to thank all those who gave so generously.

Condolences: The Club would like to offer its sincere condolences to Barry, Breda, Noel and Siobhan Duggan and the extended Duggan family on the passing of Barry’s mother Maureen. May she rest in peace.

Kilcummin GAA Notes week ending 23rd November 2025

Under 16’s: There was disappointment for our Under 16’s on Sunday morning at Fitzgerald Stadium when they went down 2-21 to 3-11 in the East Kerry Division 1 Final. In the end Listry proved worthy winners in a contest in which Kilcummin showed little of the great form that had got them to the final berth. That said the team fought back from a nine-point deficit to get back on level par and battled into the lead by the 40th minute before Listry aided by a number of 2 pointers pushed clear once again.

Listry took early command of the contest and led 0-5 to 0-0 after the opening quarter. Kilcummin opened their account on the 15th minute when the impressive Liam O’Mahony raised an orange flag after a long-distance effort.

Despite this it was Listry who continued to force the issue and pushed well clear by the 25th minute 1-8 to 0-2

Kilcummin who were on a 3-game unbeaten run finally found some of the form that sent them to the final when they hit a telling purple patch which included a rasper of a goal from Cian Stack which proved too hot to handle in the Listry square. This followed by points by Stack, O’Mahony, Joe O Connor and Aidan Huggard had the sides level at the break 1-8 apiece.

Cian Stack into the wind put Kilcummin into the led for the first time in the contest and despite creating a number of chances failed to push further ahead before Listry found the target for 3 unanswered points to regain the lead 1-11 to 1-9.

Then the score of the game for Kilcummin, a wonderfully timed short kick out by Hugh Maguire which was collected by Tristan Murphy before Joe O’Connor continued the run down the line before sending a highball into the edge of the square with Liam O’Mahony at the end of the delivery scoring a goal. It put Kilcummin back into the lead by the 40th minute.

Listry would score the next 1-6 of the contest to put them clear and despite a late flurry of scores including a Daragh Keane penalty it was to be Listrys day.

Well done to all the players who gave their every best of the day and there is little time for a break as they face Na Gaeil next weekend (TBC) in the County League Division 1 semi final.

Kilcummin GAA Notes week ending 16th November 2025

Under 16’s: Our Under 16’s will play Listry East Kerry Division 1 final on Sunday next with Listry the venue for the 11am throw in time. It has been a busy campaign for the team who have defeated Dr. Crokes, Firies and Killarney Legion to book their place in the final. We wish all the players the very best of luck.

Frewen Cup: There was plenty Kilcummin interest in last week’s Frewen Cup semi-final in which St Brendan’s College Killarney defeated Tralee CBS 5-12 to 1-10. Daragh Keane topped scored for the SEM with 1-4, while Cian Stack remained a rock at centre back. Joe O’Connor playing at wing forward contributed to a number of fine scores while Conor Finnegan and Liam O’Mahony were introduced in the second half.

Cumman na Mbunscol: Hard luck to local school Coolick National School who were defeated in their 4-5 teacher School Shield final against Abbeydorney during the week in the game that was played at Austin Stack Park. The players put in a massive effort throughout the campaign and brought a lot of pride to their School staff, Parents and indeed community. It was great to see so many flags and bunting up around the area to support the team.

Kilcummin GAA Notes week ending 9th November 2025

Under 16’s: Our Under 16’s are through to the East Kerry Division 1 final having dispatched Killarney Legion 0-22 to 2-8 on Sunday morning in a game they controlled throughout with an eye-catching display by Darragh Keane who ended the game with 0-16.

Keane opened the scoring inside the opening minutes and with early scores by Eamon O’Donoghue and Dean Moynihan ran into a 0-6 to 0-1 lead before Legion stuck for the game’s opening goal to narrow the gap after a quarter. A two pointer by Keane kick started Kilcummin once again and they took a 0-12 to 1-2 lead with them to the break.

The pace of the contest dropped somewhat into the second half as Kilcummin held the upper hand 0-16 to 1-4 by the end of the third quarter.

Cian Stack, Conor Finnegan, Mark Fleming and Joe O’Connor continued to work hard dominating most of the possession.

Into the final quarter and Liam O’Mahony in his second game since returning after a long layoff from injury began to find a few nice scores while Conor O’Leary coming off the bench added another fine point as Kilcummin clinched their place in the final with Listry, a game that will take place in Listry in 2 weeks’ time. Well done to all the players and management.

Congratulations: to Rhea Kate Devane who captained the East Kerry Under 15 ladies who defeated South Kerry 1-14 to 2-8 in the county district under 15 Shield Final v South Kerry.

Ailbhe O Callaghan, Ella Murphy, Katie Brosnan, Rebecca O Connell, Michelle Doolan (inj) and Mellisa O Connor (inj) were all part of the East Kerry team as well as John O’Callaghan who was part of the team’s management.

Kilcummin GAA Notes week ending 2nd November 2025

100 Years: Last Sunday marked a historic milestone for Kilcummin GAA club who on the 2nd November 1925 won the inaugural East Kerry league final defeating Killorglin 2-4 to 0-1

Earlier in the day the East Kerry GAA board marked the centenary by unveiling a special plaque on the Flesk Bridge Killarney by the Cathaoirleach of Killarney M.D Martin Grady just metres away the Cricket Field which was the venue of the first final and afterwards invited family representatives to the Gleneagle Hotel for some informative musings in a relax manner.

Much of the fine work for the occasion was down to the timeless energy of Billy Doolan who undertook the project to ensure that Kilcummin’s first ever win was remembered.

For the record the team were – Paddy Moriarty (who was represented by his grand nephew Eoghan Moriarty.

Din Counihan who was represented by his grand nephew Brendan Counihan.

John Billy Murphy who was represented by Grandsons Flor and Michael Murphy.

Eugene McCarthy was represented by Granddaughters Jean and Magaret McCarthy.

Tady D O Sullivan was represented by releative Eamon Foley.

Patrick Fleming was represented by Grandsons Dermot and Noel ‘Will’ Fleming.

Timmy McCarthy was represented his daughter Tessie Sheahan.

Dee O’Connor was represented by his grandson Dinny O’Connor.

Denis O’Leary was represented by his nephew Timmy Cooper.

Minors: Hard luck to our Minor footballers who were defeated 4-9 to 1-12 to Firies in the East Kerry Division 3 semi final

Under 16’s: The very best of luck to our under 16 team who play Killarney Legion in the East Kerry Championship semi final on Sunday.

Super 10’s: Well done to our Under 14 Super 10’s team who represented the club and county with great pride on Saturday last at Mick Neville Park in Limerick just coming up short in the Munster final when Monaleen got the better of our lads 4-5 to 1-5.

It was a great afternoon of football in which Kilcummin drew with Waterford side Gaultier 2-7 to 3-4 in their opening group game. Conor Gallivan scored  2-1 while Max Moynihan 0-5 with Morrie O’Shea 0-1 got the other scores. 

The teams most complete performance came in game 2 when they defeated Tipperary side Rockwell Rovers 4-12 to 0-5, Once again Conor Gallivan hit 2 goals with Max Moynihan and Cillian Sheehan also netting for the team. 

That win ensured Kilcummin topped the group and set up a semi final against fellow Kerry side Scartaglin. Scart made the better of the starts and led at the break 2-4 to 0-5 but second half goals from Moynihan (2) and Gallivan (1) spurred the team onto a 3-10 to 3-6 win. 

Monaleen proved a step too far in the final but once again the team put in a credible display all the way to the final whistle.

Well done to all the players who played so well throughout both the Kerry and Munster campaigns who were well decked out in their new zip tops thanks to the sponsorship of Leane’s Kitchens and Bedrooms and Ger Sheehan Building.

Scòr na nÒg Co Final: Well done to our Novelty Act who placed 2nd in the County Final of Scòr na nÒg in Dromid today. Aoibhinn O Leary, Nessa Brosnan, Ann Murphy, Ella Kate Pigott, Rory Leane, Saoirse Lucey & Alva McCarthy. Thanks also to their mentor Geraldine Pigott for her fantastic effort in preparing the team.

Congratulations: to Isla Cronin who played for the East Kerry U13 Ladies football team that won the District Championship today in Fitzgerald Stadium on Sunday beating West Kerry. Isla played a fine game from wing back.

LGFA AGM: Kilcummin Ladies Gaelic Football Club AGM will be held on 11th November. This is a good opportunity for new people to get involved in the running of the club. Any parent, senior player or person in the parish who is interested in getting involved- please contact Esther on 087 9924603.

Kilcummin GAA Notes week ending 26th October 2025

East Kerry Championship: Kilcummin are out of the O’Donoghue Cup for 2025 having lost out to Dr. Crokes last Friday evening 1-17 to 0-15 at the Quarter Final stage, which was played under lights at Lewis Road.

In the end the superior scoring power of Tony Brosnan was a telling factor with the Kerry player scoring 0-10 on the night but for Kilcummin who trailed at one stage by eight points at the end of the opening quarter they showed some excellent moments in a game in which James Foley’s men hit nine unanswered points of their own to lead through the early stages of the second half.

Philip O Leary gave Kilcummin an early lead inside the opening minute before Crokes hit 3 on the bounce. Cian Foley and Philip O Leary tied up matters by the 7th minute 0-3 each.

Crokes would hit a purple patch in the next 7 minutes as they hit 8 points to take a commanding 0-11 to 0-3 lead by the end of the opening quarter.

Despite trailing by such a margin Kilcummin were still well in the contest with possession and finally the scores began to come when Matt Keane took advantage of a 3 up breach to tap over a 21M free. It ended the Crokes run of scores and began Kilcummin’s fight back. Keane added another free before Brendan Kealy landed a pair of 2 pointer frees from distance to reel the advantage back to just 2 points as Crokes led 0-11 to 0-9 at the break.

Kilcummin continued their positive charge on the resumption and with further points from Cian Foley, Paul O’Shea (f) and Sean O’Leary regained their early lead to push 0-12 to 0-11 clear by the 37th minute. However, it was the home side that once again found next 3 scores as they began to take control once again. Another Philip O’Leary point on the 40th minute reduced the deficit to the bare minimum (0-14 to 0-13) once again, but it was as close they were to get before Dr. Crokes landed the all vital goal on the 51st.

The loss brings down the curtain in a season that saw Kilcummin unbeaten in 8 of their 11 Division 1 county league games including 4 victories with topflight status secured once again for 2026. A narrow loss to Fossa in the semifinal of the Intermediate championship after winning their group along with a Quarter final victory over Listowel before exiting the O’Donoghue Cup after an opening round win over Fossa. Well done to all the players and management for their efforts throughout the season.

100 Years: This year, the East Kerry GAA Board is celebrating 100 years since its foundation. In that inaugural year, the East Kerry Board organised their first League competition. Kilcummin and Killorglin reached the final of that competition, which was played in the old “Cricket Field” behind Flesk Bridge on the Muckross Road, Killarney. Kilcummin were the eventual winners of that final. The East Kerry Board are unveiling a plaque at Flesk Bridge on Sunday 2 November at 3.00pm to commemorate the 100th anniversary of that first East Kerry League Final.

Under 16’s: Well done to our under 16’s who defeated Firies on Sunday 0-12 to 1-6 in the East Kerry Under 16 Division 1 championship Quarter Final and will now play Killarney Legion in semi final.

Super 10’s: The very best of luck to our super 10’s squad who take part in the Munster Super 10’s finals next Saturday in Limerick.  

Quiz Night: Well done to our Mothers and Others who generated over €1,800 for Temple Street, Children’s Hospital and the Kilcummin Mothers & Others ladies football team following their successful fun Halloween Quiz which was held in the Klub Bar.

The “Big Raffle” on the night of the event, contributed enormously to the fun and atmosphere of the event, and also contributed in no small way to the final financial outcome. A huge thank you to all the generous businesses and individuals who contributed a prize to this part of the night.

Kilcummin GAA Notes week ending 19th October 2025

East Kerry Championship: Kilcummin are through to the Quarter Final of the O’Donoghue Cup following a testing contest away to Fossa on Saturday. In the end a late flurry of points by Kilcummin saw them through 0-15 to 0-11 where they will now face Dr. Crokes next weekend. Fossa raised the opening white flag of the contest with both sides passing up some early chances as both teams slowly came to terms with the conditions. When Kilcummin finally found their range, they pushed into a 0-3 to 0-1 lead with points from Mark O’Shea and Paul O’Shea (2). The home side lining out without either of their county players continued to ask questions and the contest was tied 0-5 each by the 25th minute. A brace of points by Philip O’Leary and Paul O’Shea pushed Kilcummin to a 0-7 to 0-5 half time lead.

Fossa through a well taken 2 point effort from the boot of Jack Clifford tied the contest once again, minutes into the second half and the sides were level once again 0-9 each by the 40th minute before Paul O’Shea gave Kilcummin a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.

Fossa who were never far away were back to within a point on the 53rd minute (0-12 to 0-11) but three late scores from Paul O’Shea, Cian Foley and Philip O’Leary ensured the win.

Fixture: Kilcummin will play Dr. Crokes at Lewis Road on Friday 24th at 7.30pm under lights in the O’Donoghue Cup Quarter Final.

Minors: With 20 Minutes to go in their East Kerry Minor Football Championship Division 3/4 semifinal Kilcummin trailed Fossa 0-12 to 0-7 and it looked like season over but not for the first time this year this team dug deep and thanks to goals by Ronan McCarthy, Colm Janot and Rory O’Connor they pushed on to a 3-10 to 0-15 win.

Under 16’s: Our under 16’s will be out on Sunday morning away to Firies at 11am in the East Kerry Division 1 Quarter Final. We wish the players and management the very best of luck.

Super 10’s: For the first time Kilcummin claimed the Kerry Super 10’s county Under 14 title with a 4-8 to 0-10 win over Scartaglin following an exciting evenings football at John Mitchel’s and Caherselee Tralee under lights last Thursday. Having lost out by the smallest margin to An Gaeltacht the team really played some lovely free flowing football to collect wins over Listowel Emmet’s and St Michaels/Foilmore – Skellig Rangers was to prove to be enough to see them top their group on scoring difference. The final which was a repeat of the recent East Kerry final proved to be another exciting affair with goals proving crucial in securing the title. The team will now go forward to the Munster finals and try to defend the crown that was won last year.

Quiz Night: Our Mothers and Others fun Halloween Quiz night will be held in the Klub Bar on Friday 24th at 8pm and what a splendid offering of prizes on the night. Kilcummin GAA Notes week ending 12th October 2025

East Kerry: There was no joy for the Kilcummin representatives on the East Kerry Senior team on Saturday when they were defeated by Rathmore in the Garvey’s Supervalu Senior County Football Championship Quarter Final. Paul O Shea and Philip O’Leary once again contributed to the scoreboard. Daragh O’Callaghan and Matt Keane were also amongst the starting lineup, however Matt was withdrawn early due to injury.

Seniors: Our Senior team take on Fossa (Away) next Saturday 18th October in the O’Donoghue Cup with a 1.45pm throw in time. Best of luck to the players and management as we look to get back to the final following last years great run in the competition.

Juniors: Our Junior team were defeated by Gneevegulla in the opening round of the O’Sullivan Cup on Sunday 3-10 to 2-10. Well done to all the players who togged out with the B team during the year having secured the Division 6 county league shield being a great achievement.

Under 16’s: Our Under 16’s are into the Division 1 East Kerry Championship preliminary round following a big opening round win over Dr. Crokes on Sunday morning, where they will face Firies on October 26th. The winners will secure a semi final spot with Killarney Legion. Kenmare Shamrocks and Listry will fae each other in the other semifinal.

Super 10’s: Best of luck to the under 14 boys’ team who are through to the Super 10’s

County Final on Thursday evening next in Tralee. They qualified from East Kerry on Saturday morning last having defeated Spa with an impressive second half. In their second game they were defeated by Firies but had done enough to take one of the two spots available for the county final at that stage.

Training with the Stars: Our U10 and U11 boys travelled to Kenmare on Saturday to take part in the Training with the Stars event in aid of St. Francis Special School, Beaufort. They all had a fantastic day meeting some of their football heroes getting autographs and photos and even getting a special photo with the one and only Sam Maguire. A big thank you to our coaches, Shane Ryan and Tomás Kennedy, and to all the parents for their support in making the trip to Kenmare.

Under 15 Girls: Hard luck to Melissa O Connor, Ailbhe O Callaghan, Rhea Kate Devane, Ella Murphy, Katie Brosnan, Rebecca O Connell and Michelle Doolan who were members of the East Kerry under 15 district ladies’ team who were defeated by West Kerry in the county championship on Saturday. Kilcummin was also represented by John O Callaghan on the management team.

Sympathy: The Club would like to offer their condolences to Mike, Diarmuid and Shane and the Callaghan family on the passing of Mike’s brother Jeremiah resident of Bray, Co. Wicklow and formerly of Kilcummin. May he rest in peace.

Kilcummin GAA Notes week ending 5th October 2025

East Kerry: Five of our Senior team played pivotal roles for East Kerry in the Garvey’s Supervalu Senior county championship on Saturday in their 3-23 to 1-10 win over Templenoe. There were starts for Daragh O’Callaghan, Paul O Shea and Philip O Leary while Matt Keane and Sean O Leary were both introduced on the 40th minute. Paul O’Shea capped a fine performance scoring 1-3 while Philip O’Leary and Matt Keane both scored a point in a very one side performance. East Kerry will now play Rathmore in the Quarter Final next Saturday 11th October with a 2pm throw in at Fitzgerald Stadium.

Juniors: There was no joy for our juniors in the McElligott Shield Final on Sunday afternoon when they were defeated 3-12 to 0-14 by Killarney Legion at Fossa.

Under 14s: Hard luck to our Under 14 boys who just finished up short to Scartaglen on Sunday in the East Kerry Under 14 Division 1 final. In the end Scart ran out 3-14 to 4-9 winners after an entertaining affair in which both sides gave it their all throughout. Despite opening the scoring through a fine Darragh Fleming score it was Scart that took the early initiative as they went 1-3 to 0-1 ahead after 15 minutes. A Max Moynihan point halted the flow of scores before Conor Gallivan added a fine point free. Back-to-back goals by Moynihan ensured the bare minimum at the break 2-5 to 2-4 with Scart leading the way. Moynihan levelled up matters on the restart before Conor Gallivan put Kilcummin ahead. Dan Barry saved off the line as the winners were held at bay before they found the next three scores as they began to kick on. A third Moynihan goal kept Kilcummin in touch 2-11to 3-7. On the 50th minute Scart struck for a third goal, but another Moynihan goal pegged them back to 3-14 to 4-8 heading into the final moments of this enthralling contest and despite a late free Kilcummin were unable to gain parity ahead of the full-time whistle. Well done to all the players and management for efforts throughout the season.

Cumann na mBunscol: Congratulations to Kilcummin N.S who qualified from their group stages of Cumann na mBunscol into the county knock out stages. In fact it was an all out Kilcummin final as Kilcummin NS overcame the challenge of Coolick NS. Well done to their coach Mr. Michael Murphy and all the players and we wish them the best in the next round.

Under 16s: Our under 16’s open their East Kerry Championship campaign on Sunday when they travel to Dr. Crokes (Time to be decided)

AGM: The clubs AGM has been set for November 28th at the Club at 8pm.

Academy Ends: Kilcummin wrapped up their football season this weekend and a massive thanks to all the parents who came out to support all the kids.  Special guests Zac Cronin and Dara O’ Callaghan made the weekend extra memorable by presenting medals to every player.

Emergency First Aid: As part of the Healthy Club Initiative, Kilcummin GAA are holding an Emergency First Aid course on Thursday the 23rd of October from 7-9pm in the clubhouse. This is a certified course covering – heart attack, cardiac arrest, CPR, AED use and choking. The cost is €10 which goes back into the Kilcummin Defibrillator Support Group. It is open to all members of the community over the age of 18.

Seniors: Our Senior team have drawn Fossa in the upcoming O’Donoghue Cup campaign which will take place after the conclusion of the Senior County Football Championship. A place in the quarter final awaits the winners with Dr. Crokes the opposition.

Juniors: Our Junior team were defeated by Castleisland Desmonds on Saturday 1-17 to 0-15 in the McElligott Cup.

Under 14s: Congratulations to our under 14 boys’ team who have reached the East Kerry Under 14A final after their fine 5-13 to 4-9 win over Glenflesk on Sunday morning. Leading at the break 2-6 to 1-7 the team really came out of the traps early in the second half and buoyed by a couple of early goals slowly took command of an entertaining game.

The now play Scartaglin in the final after their 3-17 to 3-7 win over Rathmore with match details to follow in due course. Watch our social media for updates.

Novice Final: Congratulations to club referee Mike Morrissey who took charge of the Kerry Petroleum Novice Football Club Championship Final between Cromane and Finuge in Fitzgerald Stadium last Saturday. Mike and his team of officials were in top form and added greatly to an entertaining and high scoring final.

Under 12 Girls: Our U12 Girls held their end of year presentations in the Klub Bar on Friday evening. Many thanks to Sadbh O Halloran, our Kerry U16 All-Ireland winner this year for presenting the medals. Well done to all involved and looking forward to seeing all the girls back in the New year.

Juniors: Kilcummin will play their round 3 McElligott Cup game next Saturday evening away to Castleisland Desmonds. A win will see the top the group and secure a place in the McElligott Cup Final.

County Championship: Well done to East Kerry who secured their place in the Garvey’s Supervalu Senior County Championship proper after an opening round 2-18 to 1-10 win over St. Kieran’s on Sunday at Austin Stack Park. It was great to see Paul O’Shea, Philip O’Leary and Matt Keane all getting game time while Sean O’Leary was on the bench. Paul contributed 0-6 including a fine two pointer, Philip added 1-1 while Matt Keane also got his name on the score sheet. East Kerry now await the draw proper once the district preliminaries are completed.

Juniors: Kilcummin kicked off their McElligott Cup campaign for 2025 with a deserved 1-15 to 0-12 win over Firies on Saturday evening. In a 3 team group with Castleisland Desmonds, Kilcummin will have their second outing  on 27th September @ 5pm when they travel to Castleisland. Group Winners play in Cup Final (04th October) Group Runners up play in Shield Final (04th October)

Senior Ladies: It was heartbreak for our Senior ladies in the Bon Secours County Junior B Championship Quarter Final against Tralee side Kerins O’Rahilly’s when they were edged out 3-13 to 0-16 after extra time on Sunday.

Under 14 Boys: Our Under 14 boys have been drawn to play Spa in the Under 14 East Kerry Championship which will take place next Sunday at 11.30am

Shine Green Ribbon: Kilcummin GAA & LGFA are delighted to take part in the Shine Green Ribbon Campaign to reduce mental health stigma.

Shine manages the national stigma-reduction programme for Ireland.  An important part of their work is their annual Green Ribbon Campaign, which is now in its 16th year.

September is the focus month for campaign awareness-promote the wearing of the green ribbon, a symbol of solidarity, encouraging us all to engage in open conversations and break down the barriers surrounding mental illness.

We are encouraging members & supporters to wear green ribbons to support this campaign. Anyone who would like to pick up their green ribbon can do so from Monday in Kilcummin Post Office.

Mothers and Others: Our Mothers & Others will be back training as usual on Monday night from 7-8pm in Kilcummin.

Kilcummin GAA Notes (week ending 07th September 2025)

Seniors: Kilcummin exited the Kerry Petroleum Intermediate Club Championship on Sunday in Austin Stack Park in Tralee losing 3-14 to 0-20 to Fossa in a competitive semi-final that was still in the mix literally up to the last kick of the game.

Playing into a stiff wind Kilcummin would have been happy trailing 0-10 to 0-4 at the break despite conceding a few late scores to the winners coming up to the break.

The full impact of the conditions was seen to its full force as Kilcummin took a handful of minutes to chalk 5 points off the board within minutes of the restart. Philip O’Leary kick started the effort with a fine point before Keelan O’Shea punched over before Paul Shea added 0-3 (including a two pointer)

Then a much needed purple patch for the winners. Emmet O’Shea and Paddy Sheehan added points before David Clifford raised a green flag to wipe out much of the good work as Fossa went 1-12 to 0-9 ahead restoring their six point half time lead with 40 minutes on the clock.

Cian Foley stopped the rot with a fine score and despite Paudie Clifford adding another score. Kilcummin began to find their 2 point target sweet spot with Mark O’Shea, Cian Foley and O’Shea once again all raising orange flags to level up the contest 0-16 to 1-13

Fossa through Ted O’Gorman and Philip O’Leary with his 4th point of the afternoon keep the sides on parity ahead of frantic final ten minutes in which Fossa would find the net twice through Paddy Sheehan and Emmet O’Shea. On each occasion Kilcummin responded through Cian Foly’s 4th point of the day and Paul O’Shea with another two pointer to leave just 3 points between the sides with the clock heading into the red. There was to be one last chance but the width of the post would keep Kilcummin at bay as their Intermediate campaign came to an end. The Club is very proud of the efforts made by the players and management especially for the many great moments they have given the club over the campaign.

Under 14 Boys: Congratulations to our Under 14 team that captured the Division 2A East Kerry league with a superb performance over a game Kenmare Shamrocks side on Tuesday evening. Having withstood the home sides effort in the opening 20 minutes, Kilcummin kicked on really well in the second half to ensure a solid win ahead of their East Kerry Championship opener in the next few weeks. Well done to all the players and management.

Under 14 Development Squads: Well done to Darragh Fleming and Max Moynihan who were part of the U14 Kerry South team that played Kerry North today in Currans on Saturday. The boys have performed well all year with Kerry South

Under 12 Boys:  What a way to finish the season with our under 12 boys claiming the Division 1 U12 East Region League title which they claimed in Rathmore on Thursday evening.

It was the final league outing for both our Green and Red teams and both showed real grit and determination to come away with wins against two very strong Rathmore sides

With that, our Kilcummin U12 boys are officially crowned Division 1 Champions of the East Region League

Their commitment and teamwork have made us all very proud of them. A huge thank you to East Kerry Coiste na nÓg for organising such a well-run competition and to our amazing parents and supporters who’ve backed the boys every step of the way.

Kilcummin GAA Notes (week ending 31st August 2025)

Seniors: It took a late Shane McSweeney point in injury time to split the difference in what turned out to be a nail biting ending as Kilcummin secured their place in the last 4 of the Intermediate Club Championship as James Foley’s men saw off the challenge of Listowel 1-14 to 0-16 last Saturday evening.

It was an ending that seemed far removed from the opening quarter in which Kilcummin at one stage led 1-7 to 0-1. A brace of two pointers from Philip O’Leary and Cian Foley ahead of the game only goal on the 8th minute when Kevin Gorman’s pass gave Mark O’Shea the time to shoot set up the perfect start.

Listowel opened their account on the 15th minute and despite the home side hitting the next 3 points including a two pointer from Paul O Shea it was the North Kerry men that began to reel in the lead outscoring Kilcummin 0-6 to 0-2 at the alter end of the half to leave the score 1-8 to 0-7 at half time.

In a nip and tuck second half Listowel finally got ahead on the 50th minute and moved two points clear with 7 minutes left on the clock. It would need a big effort to get back into the contest and two crucial Paul O’Shea catches at midfield ignited the response with scores from Matt Keane from play and a free before the drama unfolded with Todd collecting a ball taking a tackle and tapping over with his left leg as he has done many time before in his 23 years senior career which certainly isn’t over just yet with an Intermediate club semifinal to look forward to

Under 14 Boys: Hard luck to our Under 14B team that were defeated in the East Kerry Division 4 final to Firies on Friday evening. Having battled hard throughout Firies took control late on

Under 16 Ladies: Congratulations to the under 16 team who captured the Division 3 county final defeating Glenflesk 6-8 to 5-7. Some fine scores from Ellie O’Sullivan, Rhea Kate and Rebecca O Connell put Kilcummin into an early lead but it was Glenflesk that got on top towards halftime to take a 1-point lead into the break.

A spirited second half by Kilcummin which included 2 goals by Ellie O Sullivan saw Kilcummin retake the lead and led by captain Hannah Kelliher the girls shut out Glenflesk despite the concession of a late goal.

Under 15 Ladies: It was great to see Melissa O Connor, Rebecca O Connell and Ella Kate Pigott represent Kerry in the Under 15 Munster PDP Blitz which took place in Mallow on Saturday. Well done girls.

Under 10 Girls: Our U10 girls hosted Beaufort, Currow and Killarney Legion on Saturday afternoon for a Go Game Blitz. Well done to all the girls, there was some very exciting games and great skill levels from all teams.

Kilcummin GAA Notes (Week ending Sunday 24th August 2025)

Seniors: Kilcummin secured a home quarter final in the Kerry Petroleum Club Championship Intermediate Championship following an impressive second half performance which saw us defeat Fossa on Sunday in front of a packed house.

James Foley’s side who will now face Listowel next Saturday evening August 30th at Kilcummin (6pm throw in), trailed at the break 0-8 to 0-7 made the better of the conditions in the second half as they went on to secure a 0-22 to 0-10 win.

Matt Keane and Philip O’Leary impressed with 0-11 between them but more significant was the spread of scorers which saw 10 different players all register at least a score.

Make sure to come out and support the lads on Saturday in what is a very open Intermediate championship.

Also a big thank you to all the volunteers that helped out for the game with a bigger crowd than normal it was heartening to see all the extra help from roadside stewards, to gate stewards to those helping parking the cars. It was also all hands on deck in the shop and the club appreciates all the great help.

Under 16 Boys: Congratulations to the under 16B players and management after a fantastic display in the Under 16 Division 10 County League final which saw Kilcummin crowned champions after a 3-14 to 4-5 win at Austin Stack Park. Goals by Eamonn O’Donoghue, Briain Maguire and Dean Moynihan helped ensure the win in which the team gave an all-round impressive performance.

A massive well done to the players and management for such a great display

Under 14 Boys: The very best of luck to the Under 14B boys team that take on Firies on Friday evening at 6.30pm in the East Kerry Division 4 Final. The game will take place in Kilcummin.

Under 10’s: Our Kilcummin U10s once again showcased the strength of Kerry football as the only Kerry club competing against top teams in the annual Donie Harris / Oliver Barriscale U10 Football Tournament 2025 in Douglas with 32 teams in total taking part in the blitz from across Cork.

Despite challenging conditions with back-to- back games late in the day and very hot conditions – both Kilcummin 1 & 2 teams showed incredible strength, teamwork, passion and skill throughout the blitz.

Senior Ladies: Well done to our Senior ladies who had good win on Sunday over Beale in Ballybunion in the first round of the Junior B championship winning out 3-11 to 3-2.

Under 16 Ladies: Kilcummin ran out 7-7 to 5-6 winners over Kerins O Rahillys in the County Under 16 Division 3 semifinal. The Tralee side led until the final 10 minutes of a frantic encounter before Rebecca O’Connell led the way with a fantastic goal to set up for a grandstand finish before a Tara Cronin goal ensured the win. We now look forward to final next week.

Under 15 Ladies: Well done to Melissa O Connor, Rebecca O Connell and Ella Kate Pigott who participated in the County U15 PDP Blitz in Caherslee Tralee on Sunday evening

Under 13 Ladies: Well done to our U13 players Aoibhínn O’Leary, Emma Coffey, Isla Cronin, Jasmine O’Riordan, Leagh O’Connor & Nessa Brosnan who played with East Kerry/Kenmare PDP in the Munster Blitz in Mallow on Saturday. Maria Murphy was a coach for the teams and Caroline O’Leary was FLO.

Kilcummin GAA Notes (week ending Sunday 17th August 2025)

Seniors: Well done to the Senior team on securing an Intermediate Football Championship Quarter Final spot following their 0-16 to 0-10 victory over John Mitchel’s in the Kerry Petroleum Club Championship Intermediate Round 2 Group 1 clash on Saturday night.

Despite leading by 3 points on several occasions in the first half the home side proved difficult to shake and Kilcummin took a 0-7 to 0-6 lead with them to the break.

In the second period the team produced a very professional performance delivering the scores when needed and reeled off 5 unanswered points in the third quarter to hold a double score lead by the 40th minute (0-12 to 0-6), John Mitchell’s didn’t throw in the towel and began to register a number of fine scores themselves but James Foley’s side held strong until the final whistle.

The final group game will see the visit of Fossa on Sunday for a 1pm throw in time with the winners securing top spot in the group. Best of luck to the players and management. Patrons are advised to come early due to the expected busy nature of the fixture.

Minors: We had several players involved in the East Kerry Minor football team that defeated Rathmore in the opening round of the Keanes SuperValu County Minor football county championship. Well done to Zach Cronin, Dylan Cronin, Dara Moynihan, Jack Ahern and Cian Stack and Shane O Sullivan who is part of the management team.

Under 16’s: Best of luck to our under 16B team who take on Na Gaeil on Thursday 21st August at Austin Stack Park in the Division 10 County Final. Great to see the lads getting to play in such an icon venue. Please note there will be a €5 admission fee (cash only/u16s free)

Under 14’s: Well done to the under 14A team who dug deep to defeat Scartaglin 3-18 to 5-10 in the 4th round of the East Kerry League this evening. It was an entertaining game with some fine football played by both sides right up to the end.

Congratulations also to the under 14B team that travelled to Spa and came away with a narrow win. Great progress being made by both teams.

Kerry Development: It was a busy weekend for our Kerry development player who featured heavily on Saturday in several competitions. Well done to Oran Lynch, Daragh Keane captain and Cian Maher who were part of U15 Kerry South team that won their All Ireland final against Meath in Fethard.

Cian Stack lined out at centre back with the U16 Kerry South team that played Cork.

While Darragh Fleming and Max Moynihan were part of the U14 Kerry South team that travelled to Offaly to play Louth, Wexford and Offaly.

Sympathies: The Kilcummin team of 1973 that visited The U.S.A. in July of 1974 were saddened to hear of the passing of Larry O Connor, in The U.S.A. His family home in the Bronx was the teams base camp for the duration of our 3 Week tour to New-York, Philadelphia and Boston. We extend the teams sympathies to his wife Joan (Nee Lucey) Mastergeeha, and son Larry, her Sister Nora, Breda, Margaret, The O Connor Family New-York, and the extended Lucey and O Sullivan relations in Kilcummin. Family Fun Day:  Our annual family fun day proved a huge success with the sun shining throughout the day to add to the enjoyment of what was a well-run affair. The parish league kicked off first, with a series of matches displaying incredible skills and teamwork. Congratulations to the Blue Team, captained by Aoibhean O’Leary, winners of the U13 Parish League Final.

Kilcummin Healthy Club: Kilcummin Healthy Club Committee will hold their next Bog Walk on Sunday the 31st of August at 10 am. Meeting at Anabla Primary School (V93 KN60) at 10am. The walk will take about 2 hours. Wear suitable walking shoes, the terrain is not buggy friendly. All welcome.

Golf Fundraiser: We are asking everyone to come on board to support our upcoming major club fundraiser of the year (our golf classic on August 30th) to help complete our field development.

Last year the club’s Golf Classic fundraiser raised €17,500, helped hugely by friends of Kilcummin at home and abroad, which went towards the  installation of solar panels and helped us secure a grant towards the development of the main playing pitch. This work is due to start at the end of August.

We appreciate everyone who has supported us so far.

Recently we have installed street lighting, surfaced the parking area, and are currently lining it, to enhance safety near the club’s facilities.

The club is committed to ongoing developments to provide further facilities for our vibrant male and female teams from 6 years of age onwards and an ever-growing membership.

Intermediate Championship: Kilcummin will take on John Mitchels in Group 1 Round 2 of the Kerry Petroleum Intermediate Championship next Saturday 16th August away to John Mitchels with a 6.30pm throw in time.

Minor Football: Congratulations to our Minor Footballers who were crowned Keane’s SuperValu Division 4 Shield winners having defeated Knock/Brosna 6-14 to 1-9. First half goals by Colm Janot, Jack Ahern and Rory O’Connor saw Kilcummin take a 3-7 to 1-3 half time lead. Kilcummin upped the ante in the second half with Sean Cox hitting 3 points while Colm Janot added his second goal before Rory O Connor hit a brace to see him end up with a personal tally of 3-4 in an impressive performance.

Well done to all the players and their management of Dave Kearney, Tommy Brosnan, Kieran O Donoghue, Tom Cooper and John Herlihy.

Under 16 Football: After a number of weeks of uncertainly our Under 16 footballers returned to the field of play taking on Killarney Legion in the opening round of a 3 way play off with a place in the Division 1 semi finals at stake. A brace of early goals helped the winners to a 2-5 to 0-6 half time and despite Killarney Legion reducing the gap a number of times in the second half Kilcummin held out in no small way thanks a Joe O’Connor 2-pointer. Kilcummin ran out 2-13 to 1-13 winners.

District Championship: Best of luck to a nuner of our under 16 team who have been selected to play with Eoghan Ruadh in the upcoming district championship which throws in with an away trip to Tralee District on Monday August 18^th

Under 14 Football: Our under 14As were defeated by Spa in Round 2 of the East Kerry League. Next up for the is a home game against Scartaglen

Meanwhile our Under 14B’s had a thrilling 5-8 to 2-15 win over Rathmore as they get ready for an away trip to Spa

Kilcummin GAA Summer Camp 2025:  Our inaugural GAA Summer camp proved a massive success with 4 days of fun, football & friendship along with a  surprise visit from the Sam Maguire Cup. The club wants to thank to Keane’s Jewellers, Killarney for gifting every child their own football.

To all our incredible coaches and under 16s for making it all possible. For the time and effort everyone gave voluntarily each day, not alone the 3 hours of the camp but the work in preparing for each day

Kilcummin GAA Golf Classic: Kilcummin GAA club are holding their annual fundraising Golf Classic on Saturday August 30th in Beaufort G. C. This very popular event will also honour the memory of Anthony “Skinner” O Sullivan of Ballinamanagh and the winners will receive Perpetual cup in his name. Funds raised will go towards the further developments of facilities and playing surfaces. Kilcummin GAA Notes (week ending 03rd August 2025)

Intermediate Championship: Well done to the Senior team who opened their Intermediate Championship campaign with an impressive win with over Firies in Group 1 Round 1 of the Kerry Petroleum Intermediate Championship at Fitzgerald Stadium on Saturday evening.

In the end a second half goal by Kevin O’Gorman steered the contest in the winners favour but Firies remained well in the contest until then

In fact, it was Firies that made most of the early running taking a 0-6 to 0-3 inside the opening 10 minutes of a very open contest with both sides hitting a number of well taken scores.

Mark O’Shea with the first two pointer of the day and a two pointed free by Brendan Kealy saw Kilcummin take a 0-12 to 0-9 lead with them to the break.

Kilcummin stretched to a 0-15 to 0-10 lead by the 40th minute before O’ Gorman punched to the net from a high delivery.

In the end an impressive 0-6 haul by Mark O’Shea with 0-4 from brother Paul at midfield build a solid foundation for an overall impressive team performance in which Sean O’Leary and Dara O’Callaghan made a welcome return from the US with O’Leary getting on the scoresheet.

Kilcummin will now await this weekend’s result between Fossa and John Mitchel’s before finding out their opposition in Round 2.

Family Fun Day: Due to the threat of adverse weather conditions last Monday’s annual Family Fun Day was postponed and rescheduled for this Sunday 10th of August. The must sought after under 13 parish league is up for grabs with both boys and girls looking for the coveted winners medal. The preliminary games will take place between 11am-1pm with the final to take place at 3.30pm.

Dillon Quirke Foundation: The club were delighted to host Michael, Barbara and Maura from the Dillon Quirke Foundation to complete cardiac screening with 45 of our younger players during the week as part of our Healthy Club Initiative. We had boys & girls from aged 12 to 18 participating. Many thanks to all participants & parents for ensuring the day ran smoothly and for your generous donations which will assist the Dillon Quirke Foundation to continue the very important work that they do.

Under 12 Boys: Our U12s teams battled hard to take two big wins against tough Rathmore sides in the East Region league.

The Green team played very well, with Ryan Cronin and David Fleming absolutely solid at the back. Up front, Warren Boyle was in deadly form, slotting over some classy scores. Some really slick football from the lads!

Not to be outdone, the Red team put on a show with some brilliant passing and teamwork. Zach Moynihan was excellent in defence, Kyle Morrissey dominated the middle while Jack Lucey couldn’t stop scoring at the other end—some great skill on display.

All Ireland Final: Congratulations to the Kerry Senior team in securing a 39th All Ireland football title following a great display against Donegal on Sunday at Croke Park.

It was also great to see 4 time All Ireland winner and 3 time All Star Mike McCarthy on the team of 25 years that was presented to the crowd ahead of the game. Mike played corner back on the team of 2000 that defeated Galway following a replay.

Intermediate Championship: Best of luck to the senior team who on Saturday evening August 2nd take on Firies in the opening round of the 2025 Kerry Petroleum Intermediate Football Club Championship. The Group 1 Round 1 game has a 7pm throw in with Fitzgerald Stadium the host neutral venue. All teams In the opening group stages will have a home, an away and a neutral venue.

Minor Football. Our Minor footballers will take on St. Senan’s in the Keane’s SuperValu Minor Football County League Division 4 Shield Semi-Final at home in Kilcummin on Thursday evening with a 7pm throw in time.

Kerry Development Squads: It was a bust weekend for our players on the various Kerry underage development squads. Well done to Cian Stack who played with Kerry South U16 defeating Longford 2-14 to 1-14 to earn a place in an All-Ireland. Cian Maher, Darragh Keane and Oran Lynch also earned an All-Ireland berth after their Kerry South U15’s defeated Cork 2-08 to 0-08 at Fitzgerald Stadium

While Max Moynihan and Darragh Fleming who also played with the Kerry South Under 14 teams in a series of matches against Cork at Currans.

Kilcummin GAA Club summer camp: There is a limited amount of spaces left on the Kilcummin GAA Club summer camp which commences on Tuesday 5th August and runs until Friday 8th August, 10am to 1pm. The Kilcummin GAA summer camp is open to club members only and for children aged 5 to 12 years and is suitable for all, from beginners to children who have been playing the game for many years. Players will be divided into various groups according to age & ability.

Under 16 Ladies: Well done to our Under 16 girls who defeated Annascaul/Castlegregory 8-8 to 6-9 in round 2 of the county league on Thursday evening. Having trailed 6-5 to 1-5 at the break. Kilcummin regrouped at halftime and came out a different team in 2nd half.  Some fantastic scores from Rebecca O Connell, Tara Cronin, Rhea Kate Devane, Isla Cronin and Ella Murphy saw Kilcummin turn things around.

Brilliant defending by all the backs only conceding 3 points in the 2nd half, led by Hanna Kelleher and Ellie O Sullivan. Kilcummin ran out winners on the night.

Under 13 Ladies: Best of luck to our U13s who play Currow in the Division 3 East Kerry Final on Friday evening with throw in at 6.15pm. The game takes place in Currow.

Summer Camp: The Kilcummin GAA Summer Gaelic Football Camp for Boys & Girls summer camp will take place from Tuesday 5th August to Friday 8th August, 10am to 1pm and is aimed at children aged 5 to 12 years. The camp will incorporate a wide range of Gaelic Football activities, providing children with learning experiences in an environment of Fun & Enjoyment. Players are divided into various groups according to age & ability.

Under 12 Boys: Kilcummin welcomed Kenmare to Kilcummin for the 1st Round of the East Region U12 league, and both our Green and Red teams delivered fantastic performances, securing wins by a few points. 

The Green Team saw Kyle Morrissey make his first appearance in goal, putting in a strong performance with excellent kickouts. The defence of Luke, Ryan, Daniel, David and Paddy battled hard all night. Dylan and Rowan in the middle of the field worked tirelessly and upfront, Jack, Josh, Thomas and Warren were full of running and caused havoc all night.

Meanwhile, the Red Team produced a superb all-round display, controlling the game from start to finish with great teamwork in a well-earned victory. The first half saw Kilcummin set the tone early with some fine scores from multiple players. A dominant midfield and solid defence helped build a strong lead by halftime. Kenmare regrouped after the break, fighting back with some excellent goals, but Kilcummin held firm to secure the win. 

A big thanks to John and Cormac for refereeing and to Kenmare for a competitive but sporting game.

Under 13 Ladies Football: Best of luck to our U13 girls who play Firies in their East Kerry semifinal on 23 July away to Firies. All support appreciated. Meanwhile well done to our players Emma Coffey, Aoibhínn O’Leary & Isla Cronin who played with Kerry U13 PDP in 3 blitz games in Co Laois on Saturday.

All Ireland: Congratulations to Sadbh O’Halloran and her Kerry U16 teammates on their fantastic All Ireland win in the All-Ireland Under 16A Final in which they defeated Mayo on Wednesday evening. Great to see an All-Ireland medal heading to the club and a due reward for all of Sadbh’s hard work and dedication.

Under 14 Boys: It was a tough opener for the under 14 boys A team in the first round of the East Kerry league when they suffered a 5-17 to 4-3 loss to Legion.

Under 16 Boys: Despite a 3-17 to 3-16 loss in their final round game to Listry our Under 16’s have qualified for the Division 1 county semifinal where they are drawn to play Na Gaeil. Goals by Daragh Keane, Oran Lynch and Dean Moynihan had pushed the team into a six-point lead with time almost up but late goals by the visitors edged a highly entertaining contest.

Mothers and Others: Well done to our Mothers & Others team who took part in the Flesk Festival on Saturday! A heartfelt thank you to the Glenflesk Mothers & Others team and management for hosting such a fantastic blitz.

Our ladies did Kilcummin GAA Club proud, representing all that’s great about Gaelic4Mothers & Others — meeting new people, enjoying the game, and having fun together. This is what it’s all about!

Kilcummin GAA Notes (week ending 6th July 2025)

Senior County League Div 1:  It was defeat for the Senior team in their final round of the Credit Union County Football league when they lost out in a high scoring affair to Beaufort 4-17 to 1-23.

Level on 3 occasions in the early exchanges as points by Cian Lynch and Jack Fogarty put Kilcummin 0-5 to 0-3 clear before Liam Carey struck for the game’s opening goal to put the home side back in from 1-3 to 0-5. A brace of scores from Dara Stack and Paudie Moynihan levelled up matters once again before James Nagle netted for Kilcummin as James Foley’s side went 1-7 to 1-4 ahead by the 16th minute. Paul O’Shea added another point before a Brendan Kealy two pointer gave Kilcummin a six-point lead. However, it was Beaufort that responded well to the challenge with Sean Coffey raising two green flags to tie up matters at the break 1-13 to 3-7.

Both teams added a further ten points each in the second half but Daragh Dennehy’s all important goal within minutes of the restart proved the crucial score in the contest.

With Divivson 1 status secured for 2026 all thoughts will now turn to the Kerry Petroleum Intermediate Football Club Championship with games against Firies, Fossa and John Mitchel’s to come.

Senior County League Div 7B: Congratulations to our Division 7B team that were crowned Division 7 Cup winners when they defeated John Mitchel’s in their final round game at home on Thursday evening. Needing a win to collect the two points to edge them to the top of the table the home side moved up the gears in the second half to win 3-19 to 1-8. The win secures promotion to Division 6 for next season.

Under 14’s: Hard luck to our U14 players who were part of the Eoghan Ruadh team that were defeated in the under 14 County District Semi Final in Fitzgerald Stadium losing out to neighbours East Kerry.

Under 15’s: Well, done to Cian Maher, Oran Lynch and Dara Keane who were all part of the Kerry South Under 15 Development team that defeated Mayo South last Saturday in Gort.

Under 16: Our Under 16’s collected their second win in Division 1A of the County Football League when they defeated Dr. Crokes 6-7 to 1-12 in an entertaining affair which took place at Kilcummin. Early goals by Dara Keane, Dean Moynihan and Dara Keane set the tone for the game.

Kerry Minors: Hard luck to the Kerry Minor footballers on Sunday who were defeated at the death by Tyrone in a fantastic final. Our own Zach Cronin was a member of the panel. Well done to Zach for all his commitment throughout the season with them. It was great to see so many Kilcummin supporters in Newbridge.

Kerry Under 16’s: The best of luck to Sadbh O  Halloran and the u16  Kerry players  & management who face Mayo in the All Ireland under 16A final on Wednesday 16th July. Kilcummin LGFA Executive  together with our u16 mentors are looking in to the possibility of  running  a bus  to  the U16 All Ireland Final on Wednesday 16th July in Nenagh. Throw  in 730pm.

Kilcummin LGFA Executive is subsidising some of the cost of the bus  for club players in support of  our club player Sadbh O  Halloran. The more  seats we can fill , the cheaper it will be for everyone. If interested, please contact our club secretary directly on 087 9924603

Kilcummin GAA Notes (week ending 29th June 2025)

Senior County League Div 1:  It is back to the Credit Union Senior Football League Division 1 league action this weekend as we travel to Beaufort on Saturday evening for Round 11 with a 5pm throw in time. Kilcummin currently sit in 4th place and a win would secure our highest finish in a number of years. After a run of wins James Foley’s side will avoid all fears of relegation.

Senior County League Div 7B: Currently sitting on top of the league Kilcummin will be at home this Saturday evening as John Mitchel’s are the visitors to Kilcummin in Credit Union Senior Football League Division 7 Cup Round 7. This has been a very successful campaign by the team who have endeavoured to give a number of very talented young players an introduction to county league football.

Ladies Football: Congratulations to Sadbh O Halloran and the Kerry Under 16 Ladies Footballers after their fine All Ireland Semi Final win over Cavan. Sadbh will now look forward to the All-Ireland

Under 14’s: Hard luck to our U14 ladies who were defeated by Finuge/St Senans in their County League Division 5 Silver final on Thursday evening in Kilcummin.

Under 10’s: Our u10 girls hosted Glenflesk in two go games on Thursday evening. Well done to the girls on a great performance, They continue to show improvement week on week. Thanks to Glenflesk for travelling and for very enjoyable games.

Boys Under 13’s: Kilcummin enjoyed a 4-9 to 2-12 win over Firies in Round 2 having lost narrowly to Rathmore in Round 1. They now play Kenmare at home on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm

Feile team: A huge crowd gathered on Sunday evening to welcome back the Feile contingent that travelled to Derry at the weekend to participate in the John West National Feile Peile where Kilcummin lined out in Division 1. 

A long weekend that started on Friday morning early which saw no fewer that 4 buses head to the team base in Letterkenny for the two days.

Competing in Group 1 along side Derry side Ballinascreen and Down champions Clonburr, only two victories would secure a Cup final semi final and at 11am on Saturday morning as Eamon O’Donoghue collected the first throw in, the action began in earnest against a very game Derry side who proved more than a handful. After a number of attacks it was Daragh Keane that opened the scoring with a free into a tricky wind before Callum Scullion tied up matters. A number of missed chances by Kilcummin looked to prove costly before Derry O’Gorman, prominent throughout the first half popped up for a well taken score to give Kilcummin a 0-2 to 0-1 lead at the break.

Aidan Huggard ensured a fast start to the second half with a pointed effort from 30 yards as Kilcummin began to get the better of exchanges. Scullion pegged it back to a point with his second score before a Darragh Keane brace had Kilcummin 0-5 to 0-2 ahead. The Kerry side had to withstand a late penalty effort Ballinascreen which they failed to convert as Kilcummin secured the win.

Clonburr were the opposition in round 2, a club which actually put paid to the chances of the team of 1992 but history apart both sides served up a cracker of an opening half. Both sides carved out a number of goal chances in the opening exchanges before Shea Murray for the Down team found the net, a quick reply of a point by Daragh Keane had the Kerry lads up and running before Keane converted a penalty to leave it 1-1 to 0-1 after 9 minutes. With both sides eager on goals it was Clonburr that found a second through Murray again as Clonburr came raiding. The reply was swift, a searching run by Derry O’Gorman presented Dean Moynihan with an opening with his efforted rebounded to Darragh Keane who from a tight angle found the net to leave Kilcummin 2-1 to 2-0 ahead at the break.

The second half saw the team play some of their best football. Keane opened with a fine point before he added his third goal as Max Moynihan and Tristan Murphy both found the target. The games first two-pointer came from the boot of Keane before Clonburr managed to win a penalty. Dan Barry just on the field in goal ensured his first touch of action was to save Daniel Gribben’s effort as Kilcummin manfully cleared their lines with the help of Darragh Fleming, Darragh Forde and Conal McCarthy as they would keep their Ulster opponents scoreless.

New York was the test in the Cup semi final, and it was evident from the off that this would be a bruising battle with a number of off the ball altercations prior to throw in.

It was the exiles that made the better start opening with three unanswered points from Dara Lynch(2) and Fintan Murphy as Kilcummin struggled with the physical presence of New York, It needed a big score to get back into contention and it arrived from the boot of Keane by way of a two point free and it was Keane once again from a dead ball that had Kiclummin back in contention at the break as they trailed 0-4 to 0-3.

The second half was a bruising affair as both sides limited scoring opportunities in the Stadium pitch in Owenbeg but it was New York who mustered the scores mid-way through the half to push 0-7 to 0-3 ahead, a lead they help to the finish as New York mad their way to a Final, they would lose 1-2 to 0-3 to eventual winners Naas.

Many thanks to the players and management for representing the club with real pride over the weekend. It was fantastic to see so much colour and noise from the traveling support and once again the club is extremely grateful to all sponsors who came on board to help as well as the many parents who helped in the organising.

Kilcummin GAA Notes (week ending 22nd June 2025)

Seniors: A share of the spoils after an entertaining contest was enough to secure the Credit Union Senior Football County League Division 1 status for next season as James Foley’s side battled back from 9 points down to after the opening quarter of play in which Glenflesk opened really strong.

The away side helped with an early goal shot into a 1-3 to 0-0 lead before Paul O Shea opened the scoring and despite a brace of points by Philip O’Leary and another white flag from Chris O’Leary, Glenflesk still held a healthy advantage of 1-9 to 0-4 after 15 minutes.

It was better from the home side in the second quarter who managed to close the gap to just four at the break 1-14 to 0-13 with Paul O’Shea hitting five points.

Glenflesk held a five point lead by the end of the third quarter 1-18 to 0-16 before Kilcummin made the better of things coming down the back straight as Mark O’Shea found his mark with a brace of points before brother Paul hit a fine two point effort to reduce the gap to a single score. Glenflesk found a vital score to stop the Kilcummin run to go two points clear before points from Keelan O’Shea and Matt Keane levelled up matters and when Paul O Shea found the range with a long rang point Kilcummin went ahead for the first time. Glenflesk however managed a good counter attack late on and found a late equaliser

Juniors: A crucial Colm Janot goal helped secured another vital draw for Kilcummin in their Credit Union Senior Football County League Division 7 Cup on Saturday evening away to Listowel Emmets.

It was a special evening for Janot who is still a minor player but answered the call late to ensure the team had sufficient players to field and it was the debutant that reacted quickly to a penalty rebound to tap into the net for what proved to be a vital score in the 1-12 to 2-9 draw.

Trailing the home side by four points at the break a spirited second half saw them surge ahead before Listowel levelled at the death.

The win moves Kilcummin to 9 points and one clear of the chasing pack in the Division 7 Cup with one game left to play which will see the team play host to John Mitchels

Under 16’s: Our under 16’s opened their county league Division 1A campaign with a 3-13 to 3-10 win over Killarney Legion in a reversal of last month’s Div 1 East Kerry Final.

Leading at the break 3-6 to 2-7 Kilcummin pushed ahead by 7 points at one stage during the second half but they had to show some real character when the visitors closed to within a score but they held on to collect a crucial two points in a very competitive Division

Under 13’s: Our under 13’s opened up their East Kerry Division 1 campaign on Thursday in an exciting battle with Rathmore in which they just came up short in a 5-20 to 5-18 classic.

Feile: Best of luck to our Feile team who take to the road on Friday next for the long journey to Derry for this year’s John West Feile Peil where they compete in Division 1 with 11 more teams.

The team will are grouped with Derry side Ballinascreen and Down champions Clonduff. Games start on Saturday at 11am and follow the clubs X account for updates throughout the day.

Ladies: Well done to our under 8 and under 10 girls who provided the half time entertainment in the Credit Union County Senior Football league game on Saturday evening The future is bright with these girls.

Kilcummin GAA Notes (week ending 13th April 2025)

Senior County League: Both our teams are away next weekend. In Round 4 of the Credit Union Senior Football League Division 1 we travel to Tralee to take on Ballymacelligott at Caherslee GAA Pitch in Tralee. Currently both teams are on one point after 3 rounds, so this is an important game for both teams.

Meanwhile in Round 4 of Division 7B of the Credit Union Senior Football League we are away to Na Gaeil.

Currently both games are down for Easter Sunday 20th April with 2pm throw ins.

Feile Fundraiser 2025: Our Kilcummin under 15 boys have qualified to represent Kerry for the John West Féile Peile na nÓg national finals which will take place at the Derry GAA Centre of Excellence at Owenbeg on Saturday, June 28th. The club and community are extremely proud of our players, their hard work and commitment on their amazing achievement.

We are now fundraising to alleviate some of the high costs involved in the travel to Derry along with the additional costs of playing gear and expenses for the team as we endeavour to make it as memorable as possible for all the players.

Academy: Our academy continues on Saturday morning at 10.30am for boys (up to u12) and girls (up to u10). New members welcome.

Under 14: Well done to the under 14 boys who won their second match in the county league defeating John Mitchels. Goals by Conor Gallivan and Aodhan O Halloran in each half capped off a fine team performance.

Under 16: Well done to the under 16A team who enjoyed a narrow 4-16 to 6-8 win over Kenmare after a hugely entertaining and high scoring affair last night at Kilcummin. The goals arrived from Daniel O Sullivan and Mark Fleming who scored 3 goals with Eamon O Donoghue producing some eyecatching fielding over the hour.

It was a busy weekend for the under 16B teams who had 2 outings. On Friday they suffered a narrow 2-point defeat to Currow, while on Sunday evening at Kilcummin they were defeated by Firies 2-24 to 2-18 in a high scoring entertaining encounter.

Kilcummin GAA Notes (week ending 2nd February 2025)

East Kerry Super League: Kilcummin opened up their East Kerry Super League campaign with a 2-point win on Sunday over Rathmore. In a very entertaining encounter, which featured the new FRC rules for the first time, It was Kilcummin that opened the quicker with a brace of Cian Foley points before Rathmore hit for a goal but the home side would reel off the next five scores and took a 0-7 to 1-2 lead with them to the break. The visitors dominated the third quarter as they powered into a five-point lead (1-9 to 0-7) hitting 7 unanswered points as Kilcummin struggled to get a foothold. All that would change in the final quarter. Mark O Shea would hit the first ever two pointer scored by a home player in Kilcummin and he would repeat the trick along with brother Paul as the scores finally began to flow a lot easier. Further scores by Matt Keane, Cian Foley and James Williams secured the win.

Kilcummin GAA Notes (week ending 26th January 2025)

East Kerry Super League: The Senior team will resume action on Sunday February 2nd when they play their first game of the season at home (1pm) as they take on Rathmore in a tasty repeat of the O Donoghue Cup Final. They will also face Glenflesk, Gneevegulla and Dr Crokes in Division 1B.

Awards Night: The Kilcummin GAA Senior Awards Night will take place at the Clubhouse (9pm) on Friday 31st January where the Senior and Young players of the year will be announced along with club person of the year. There will also be a presentation of medal to our winning O Sullivan Cup team.

College Football: Hard luck to our Kilcummin players who played with St Brendan’s College in the Taft Cup Final against Tralee CBS. Unfortunately, they lost out 1-18 to 0-18 after extra time. Darragh Keane, Daniel O Sullivan, Oran Lynch, Derry O Gorman, Cian Maher and Darragh Forde were all part of the St Brendan’s Panel.
Meanwhile it was better news for Dara Stack, Zach Cronin, Aaron Buckley and Gavin Morrissey who were part of the victorious St Brendan’s side that defeated Pobal Scoil Inbhearr Sceine in the Corn Ui Mhuiri Cup semi-final which was played in Mallow. Diarmuid O’Callaghan is also a member of the team’s backroom team. It was great to see former Kilcummin juvenile player Jack Tagney play a prominent role for the Kenmare side. We wish the boys the best of luck in the final against Mercy Mounthawk in 2 weeks.

Retirement: After 12 years at the helm Club PRO Mike Riordan has stepped down from the role. A massive thanks for all those great years of service keeping the club flow of information going.

Brendan Martin Cup: It was great to see the Brendan Martin Cup at the Club on Sunday night. For the first time in 31 years, it is back in Kerry hands, and it was a historic night that is sure to inspire the many young Kilcummin players who dream of playing for Kerry. On the night they were presentations made to Ailbhe O Callaghan and Rhea Kate Devane who made the Kerry under 14 training squad (2024). There was also Awards made to both Coolick and Kilcummin National Schools as part of the Club School Links Programme.

AGM

The club held its AGM on Friday last to a sizable attendance in the clubrooms. Secretary Nessa McCarthy gave an overview of the year and mentioned reaching the O Donoghue cup and the winning of the O Sullivan Cup as highlights. She acknowledged the contributions of officers, mentors, sponsors and general membership in the running of the club. She outlined the contribution of the CCE scheme workers in the upkeep of facilities and organising of events.

O Sullivan Cup Final  ( After extra time )   

Kilcummin 1–17, Glenflesk 2-14. Kilcummin win on penalties.

This final played in Kilcummin on Saturday kept the large crowd entertained throughout and it took penalties ( nine each ) to separate the teams after extra time.

The sides were level at half time 0-08 to 1-05 with points coming from Mark O Shea (0-4) Paudie Moynihan (0-2) and one each from Cian Foley and Aaron Buckley.

The second half saw both teams trading scores but when Glenflesk enjoyed a three point lead late in the game we rallied well and finished the match level on a scoreline 0-13 to 1-10. Our second half points came from the boot of Philip O Leary, Keith O Leary  ( 45′), Mark O Shea, Mikey O Shea and Paudie Moynihan.

Extra time saw us again trade scores with Philip O Leary, Sean Doolan Richie O Connor and Mark O Shea with his sixth point keeping us in touch but a minute  into injury time we trailed by two points. Mark O Shea won a free around the 45 metre line and lofted a ball into the square for Shane McSweeney to fist to  the net. There was still time for Glenflesk to secure an equalising free and so, we faced into penalties. Philip O Leary, Sean Doolan, Richie O Connor, Mark O Shea and Matt Keane stepped forward and after nine penalties and three excellent saves from Keith O Leary in goal Jack Fogarty captain raised the O Sullivan Cup for his team mates.

In goal Keith O Leary affected some good saves throughout.

In defence  Jack Fogarty, Damien O Leary and Dara Stack were outstanding and were well supported by James Williams, Oisin O Leary and Mikey O Shea.

Shane McSweeney and Colm Kelleher were very effective in midfield while Cian Lynch, Cian Foley and Aaron Buckley in the half forward line worked tirelessly both in attack and helping out in defence when needed. The full forward line of Gavin Cronin , Paudie Moynihan and “Man of the Match” Mark O Shea contributed nine points between them and kept the Glenflesk backs busy.

The substitutions used were Philip O Leary, Matt Keane , Richie O Connor, Sean Doolan, Danny Cronin and Gavin Morrissey and had a huge bearing on the result.

O Donoghue Cup Final 2024

Rathmore 1- 12  Kilcummin 2-07

Despite a great effort and total commitment from players and management we came up short in Fitzgerald’ stadium last Sunday losing out by two points to a strong Rathmore outfit.

We started well with a Paul OShea free and a fine long range effort from Keelan O Shea. Rathmore responded with two points but Matt Keane put us back in front after 12 minutes from play. Paul O Shea added two further points from play and from a placed ball. At this stage our defence was playing really well and we were breaking fast up field to get our scores but Rathmore settled their ship with two further points to leave us ahead by just a point with five minutes left in the first half. A quick ball out of defence found Mark O Shea bearing down on goal but the Rathmore goalie saved brilliantly. From the resultant 45 metre Matt Keane claimed the ball and finished expertly to the net. When Paul O Shea pointed a further free we led at half time by five points 1-6 to 0-4.

Rathmore started quickly in the second half and had scored a goal and a point  by the sixth minute. However our players were dangerous on the break and following a great move Matt Keane stepped in again to find the net after ten minutes to leave us ahead by four points 2-06 to 1-05. Rathmore made some changes and their impact was evident as they kicked the next five points to lead by a point with five minutes remaining. Our boys were not giving up and when Paul O Shea pointed the sides were level with five minutes remaining and our supporters were hopeful.but credit to Rathmore who added two late points to run out deserving winners despite a phenomenal effort from a young Kilcummin team. Final score Rathmore 1-12 Kilcummin 2-07.

Special mention must go to Matt Keane who was named “Man of the Match” just reward for a tremendous effort on his behalf scoring  2-01 and defending when needed.

Well done to the team and mentors and we can only benefit from the experience going forward.

East Kerry Champions

Kilcummin 2-7, Kenmare 1-7

Congratulations to our minor team who were crowned East Kerry champions by virtue of their victory over Kenmare on Sunday last which was played in Dirreen. This was a tense affair early on between these two teams who have become very accustomed to each other over the last few years. With both defences on top, scores were hard to come by but at half time Kilcummin were leading by two points 1-4 to 1-2. Kenmares first score came from the penalty spot but Sean Doolan balanced the books when he slotted home a penalty of his own 20 minutes into the game. In the second half both teams traded points with Aaron Buckley, Sean Doolan and Sean Maher accounting for Kilcummin’s scores but the killer blow was delivered by Bobby Gallivan when he fisted a cross to the Kenmare net after great work by Luke Daly. After that the Kilcummin defence marshalled by the outstanding Dara Stack kept the opposition at bay and when the final whistle blew there were scenes of great joy and some relief that this young team had at last got the reward their efforts deserved. Well done to the entire panel and mentors David Kearney, Tommy Brosnan, Paul O Donoghue and Kieran O Donoghue.

Kerry Petroleum Intermediate Club Championship

Kilcummin 4-19 Currow 2-9. Following our victory over Laune Rangers in Rd 1 we travelled to Currow on Saturday knowing that a victory would most likely qualify us for the Quarter-Finals of the Intermediate Club Championship. We started brightly kicking over six points without reply but Currow settled and fought back with a goal and reduced the arrears to four points. A splendid goal from Sean O Leary got us back on track and we lead 1-12 to 1-3 at half time. We dominated the second half and goals by Philip O Leary twice and Mark O Shea saw us run out comfortable winners.

Excitement is building for the upcoming OsKars event incorporating Kilcummin and Glenflesk.

With fundraisers being arranged at present and attention turning to rehearsals in September a lot of work has gone on in the background by the committee in securing sponsorship. We welcome KWD’s sponsorship again as they did in the previous event in 2018. Everyone involved is working hard to make the December event a really successful occasion and generate much needed funds for both clubs.

Function

The 1973 Kilcummin Senior Football Team will come together for their Golden Jubilee gathering on Saturday the 26th August, to acknowledge that memorable year.

Many of the team reside outside the county, and two outside the country, but will make the trip from Dublin, Kildare, Limerick and Cork. Sean O Connor, our Goalkeeper, is making the trip home from Australia, where he moved after 73, and Monty O Sullivan is travelling from Boston.

We have sadly lost a few comrades over the years, but they will be represented by family members. The Gathering is being organised by Team members Sean Kelly and Billy Doolan.

Goals by Gavin Cronin and Sean Doolan and points from the two helped us to a half-time lead of 2-9 to 1-2. Rathmore were in blistering form in the second form and three goals put them in control. A late goal by Colm Janot after excellent work by Odhran O Shea wasn’t enough to secure victory and we lost out by a single point.

Gneeveguilla V Kilcummin, 14^th May 2023

Kilcummin began well in this game aided by the wind in the first half and led 1-3 to no score after 10 minutes, with Shane mc Sweeney finding the net. After 25 minutes gone Kilcummin led 1-7 to 3 points and were unlucky not to add another goal, the crossbar saving the home team. This seemed to ignite Gneeveguilla and within the next 5 minutes they had three goals scored and taken the lead.  The half time score was Gneeveguilla 3-4, to Kilcummin 1-8.

Kilcummin introduced Noel Duggan and James Williams. This saw Eoin O Donovan move to wing back which seemed to bring Kilcummin back into the game. They dominated the next 15 to 20 minutes scoring 1 – 5 without reply.  A cracking goal from Donal Maher and a Paul O Shea dispatched penalty on the 55^th minute to leave the scores 3-10 to 3-13. Gneeveguilla kept attacking and forced Brendan Kealy to make a spectacular save with 3 minutes or so remaining. Kilcummin were not prepared to try and hold the 3 point lead with 4 minutes injury time to be played. A great move from defence all the way to the full forward line resulted in a Noel Duggan goal.  The final score was Gneeveguilla 3-10 to Kilcummin 4-13.

There were many very good performances on the Kilcummin side but Eoin O Donovan’s contribution in the second half from wing back was immense and saw him intercept ball after ball and launch many of the Kilcummin attacks which brought them back into the game and keep them in contention at the top of Division 1.

Kilcummin and Glenflesk are once again teaming up to host another Oskars event and considering the remarkable success and entertainment of the previous event in 2018 this will be eagerly awaited.

Firstly we have the INFORMATION night on Monday May 29^th at 8.30 in the Killarney Heights where everyone will be made most welcome and learn more about this fantastic event which will takeplace on December 7 th in the INEC.

Club Notes 8th May, 2023

Under 15 Feile na Nog –County champions 2023

Well done to our Under 15 boys who won the Division 3 Feile competition at the week-end.

Following a 4-10 to 1-05 away to St Michaels/ Skellig Rangers they qualified for the Finals on Saturday which was held in the John Mitchells complex.

In the semi-final we met Beaufort and after a powerful performance we ran out winners on a scoreline of Kilcummin 5-03 Beaufort 0-05. Goal scorers were Evan O Sullivan twice, Robbie Casey twice and a Ronan O Connor from a penalty while Shane Morrissey, Rory O Connor and Liam O Mahony kicked the points.

The final against Ardfert was a much closer affair and we trailed at half time by two points 1-2 to 0-3, Rory O Connor and Ronan O Connor our point scorers.

In a second half of fantastic defending and attacking we kept our opponents scoreless while we added on 1-04 to emerge victorious on a scoreline, Kilcummin 1-07 Ardfert 1-02. Scorers Ronan O Connor 1-03 and Rory O Connor 0-04. Minor East Kerry League Div 3

For the clubs first time playing a B team in the EK league this was a really heartening experience with the team putting in a fantastic second half performance to emerge winners on a scoreline, Kilcummin B  4-15 Legion B 1-14. Our goal scorers were Odhran O Shea twice, Jake Dann and Dara O Brien.

Sympathy is extended to the Clifford family and the O Shea family on the sad passing of Ellen Clifford. May she rest in peace.

OSKARS

Kilcummin and Glenflesk are once again teaming up to host another Oskars event and considering the remarkable success and entertainment of the previous event in 2018 this will be eagerly awaited.

Firstly we have the INFORMATION night on Monday May 29^th at 8.30 in the Killarney Heights where everyone will be made most welcome and learn more about this fantastic event which will takeplace on December 7 th in the INEC.

CASTING night will take place on June 12^th while the date for the LAUNCH night will be decided shortly. This whole experience is open to the entire Kilcummin and Glenflesk communities. For info contact Niamh on 087 9801105

Club Notes 1st May, 2023

Credit Union Co League Division 1

Kerins O Rahillys 1-12, Kilcummin 2-11

Our senior team manufactured an amazing comeback to defeat Kerins O Rahillys in Tralee last Saturday and claim two points that sees us top the Division facing into a two week break.

Trailing by nine points with 15 minutes remaining a Shane McSweeney goal ignited the team after what had been a lack lustre performance up till then. Five points and a further goal from Philip O Leary without reply saw us run out winners by two points and sent our supporters home with a smile on their faces and delighted with the character shown by the players. Next up is an away fixture against Gneeveguilla in two weeks.

Credit Union Co League Division 6

Kilcummin B  2-24, Churchill B 1-10

A great free flowing performance saw our young team overcome Churchill and run out easy winners. Goals from Cian Lynch and Sean Moynihan supplemented some fine point- taking from our forwards. Our defence was solid throughout with midfield in control also, underlining the improvement of the players and highlighting the work being done by the mentors. It also underlines the value of having entered a team in the league.

Well done to our seniors who had a good win over Milltown Castlemaine on Saturday last. Goals in either half by Mark O Shea and Noel Duggan set us on our way inspired by great displays from Sean O Leary, Paul O Shea, James Nagle and Philip O Leary in particular. Minor County League final Div 2 

Tarbert 2-6, Kilcummin 1-7

Played in Brosna on Monday evening both teams played their part in an entertaining game in difficult conditions. Kilcummin were on top throughout the the first half and lead 1-4 to 1-1 at half time. Sean Doolan scored the goal after a brilliant pass by Luke Daly while Gavin Morrissey, Keelan O Shea , Cian Forde and Sean Doolan were our point takers. That goal just on the stroke of half time and another one shortly after the break gave Tarbert the confidence and impetus and try as did we were unable to recover the control we had in the first half. Points by Keelan O Shea Aaron Buckley and a beauty from Gavin Morrissey gave us a chance but in the end we came up short. This team have given great entertainment and pleasure over the league and have some very promising players. Well done to mentors Tommy Brosnan, Paul O Donoghue, Kieran O Donoghue and Dave Kearney for the work being done. This was a great team effort but on this occasion one has to mention of the likes of Sean Maher, Cian Forde, Kieran Nagle, Dara Stack and Gavin Morrissey in particular.

Club Notes 3rd April, 2023

Co League Div 6

Kilcummin B 0-11,  Fossa B 1-10

Our team conceded a goal at the very last kick of the game for a heart-breaking end to what was an entertaining encounter. We started well and lead by three points after 10 minutes but conceded eight points in a row to leave the half-time score Fossa 0-8 Kilcummin 0-3. However the second half was all Kilcummin until those final moments of time added on. We scored eight points to one and lead by two in normal time but Fossa found that bit extra to emerge victorious. On the bright side were the display particularly in the second half of many of our younger players in particular Oran Dwyer, Oisin O Leary, Cian Lynch, Jack Fogarty and Colin O Leary. Kilcummin 0-10, Dingle 0-10

This was a closely contested encounter throughout with defences on top for the most part and scores difficult to come by. Dingle started brightly and lead by three points early on but scores from Gary O Leary and Mark O Shea brought us on level terms while Donal Maher, and James Devane added further scores to see us trail 0-7 to 0-6 at half time. In the second half we lost Gary O Leary to injury but his replacement Padraigh Moynihan made his presence felt with two good points from play. Philip O Leary and Paul O Shea rounded off our scoring and we picked up our first point of the county league. We now travel to Castleisland on Saturday next for rd3 at 6.30 pm.

Golf Classic

Kilcummin GAA are running their annual Golf Classic on Saturday April 29^th in Kenmare G.C.

Following on last years very enjoyable social and sporting event we return to Kenmare for a fund raising event which is vital for the running of the clubs fields and facilities. Teams of three will cost €180 while sponsoring a tee box will cost €80.

East Kerry League Final

Dr Crokes 1-18  Kilcummin 0-15       (After extra time)

We succumbed to our opponents in extra time after a great effort in normal time. Leading by 0-8 to 0-6 at half time having more than matched our illustrious opponents but for most of the second half they had the upperhand and lead by three minutes with less than 6 minutes.  However we showed great courage and character to draw level with three good points driven on by man of the match Kieran Murphy. Dr crokes 1-11 Kilcummin 0-14. In extra time a number of crucial injuries did not help our cause but our lads never gave up and many of our younger players will benefit from this experience.

Club Notes 6th March, 2023

East Kerry League

Kilcummin travelled to Kenmare on Sunday and lost out by five points in a game that had no great significance in view of the fact that we had already qualified for the final. This takes place next Sunday against Dr Crokes at 2pm at a venue to be decided.

County Minor league 

Kilcummin 1-8, Ardfert 1-7

This was a hard- fought but deserved victory over Ardfert in Kilcummin on Saturday last. Despite an early setback of conceeding a goal they battled back well and with Sean Doolan unerring from frees they trailed by a single point at half time. In a second half that saw scores hard to come by a goal by Sean Doolan following great work by Aaron Buckley was crucial while late points by Keelan O Shea and Sean O Leary sealed the victory. Next game is away to Spa next Saturday.

Gaa Golf Society The society held their first outing last Saturday in the Ross golf club. Seven teams enjoyed a good day on a well -prepared course and Philip O Connor, Mike Riordan and Tim Ryan emerged victorious in this three- person scramble with a score of 58 nett.
