Senior Football Relegation Playoff Round One
Dingle 2-16 Kilcummin 0-10
Played in Killorglin on Sunday last Dingle proved much too strong for our lads despite a very determined effort. We were treated in the first half to some fine long range points from Philip Casey and Chris O Leary but still trailed at half time by 1- 8 to 0-6 with Kevin McCarthy kicking two frees.
In the second-half we added three further points from play courtesy of Paul O Riordan, Noel Duggan and Mikey O Shea. Brendan Kealy brought off some fine saves as Dingle threatened but Paul Geaney netted from a penalty to effectively kill off the game. Brendan actually saved Geaney’s first attempt but the referee ordered it to be retaken much to the annoyance of players and supporters.
Kilcummin’s players lost their discipline thereafter and received two red cards, a black and a number of yellows as their frustration grew. At the end Dingle well deserved their victory while we now face Kerins O Rahilly’s in a final effort to maintain our senior status for a 21st year.
