Senior Club Notes 3.11.19

Credit Union Co League

Kilcummin 3-16

Kerins O’Rahillys 1-12

Our seniors put in a fine performance last Sunday in the final round of the County League with a resounding victory over Kerins O’Rahillys who were in a position to reach the league final. The victory was marred however by a bad injury to Sean O’Leary who may miss the rest of the year as a result. However, we hope he doesn’t and wish him a speedy recovery. Sean was putting in a powerful performance throughout the game as part of a defence that contained a very good Rahilly’s forward line.

Kevin McCarthy showed that he is returning to top form with a storming performance that yielded 2-2 from play and created a third goal for his brother John. Gary O Leary, Matt Keane and Noel Duggan were chief point scorers, but the entire team and substitutes played their part. Donal Maher, Kevin McSweeney, Damien O’Leary and Sean Moynihan had good games in defence while Kieran Murphy had a major influence in the middle of the field throughout.

Brendan Kealy (0-1F), Sean O’Leary (0-1) Donal Maher, Dan Moynihan, Sean Moynihan, Kevin McSweeney, William Maher, Damien O’Leary,’ Shane McSweeney ,(0-1) Kieran Murphy, Gary O’Leary (0-3), Matt Keane (0-3), Kevin McCarthy (2-2), Noel Duggan (0-4, 2F), Mikey O’Shea. Subs: John McCarthy (1-0), Richie O’Connor (0-1), William Maher, Sean Brosnan, Tomas O’Connor, Jamie O’Donoghue.

East Kerry Minor Championship Div 3 Semi-Final

Kilcummin 4-14

Firies 3-14

Played in Firies this was a fantastic result for our minor team considering that we were 9 points behind early in the first half. Indeed, this could have been even more, were it not for some outstanding saves from Keith O’Leary in goal.

We showed some great character and with a never say die attitude we clawed back the deficit and forged ahead at the death for a three-point victory. While this was very much a team effort it is hard to ignore the contribution of Paul O’Shea who accounted for 4-9 of our total. We now go forward to meet Glenflesk in the final a repeat of last week’s League Final.

Another tight epic encounter is in store at a date to be confirmed.
