Senior Club Notes 12.3.17

GAA Awards Night: A very successful night held in the Clubhouse saw a number of people honoured for their contributions to their club over a number of years. Merit awards were presented to Denis O’Sullivan, Pinewood and Cockhill, Tony Sugrue and Diarmuid O’Callaghan. Kevin McCarthy got senior player of the year and Richie O’Connor attained junior player of the year. Tommy Brosnan got ‘Club Person of the Year’ for his major role of responding to the clubs needs during a lifetime of playing and in particular in the last twelve months. The Ladies Board presented awards to Kate Maher and Laura Teahan while Emer Casey picked up Player of the Year. In a season that saw them reach three major finals, winning one, the ladies team were also presented with their winning medals. Entertainment was provided by Scor Na bPaistí winning figure dancers and set dancers and also traditional music was played by members of the ‘Rising’. Congratulations to all concerned.

Croke Park Club Draw: A very successful fundraiser for the club raised in excess of ten thousand euro making Kilcummin the leading club in Munster. Evidence if needed of the great support and loyalty of the people of the parish to their club and community. Thanks to all who supported this initiative through buying and selling the tickets. Unfortunately there was no local winner in the major prizes but three people secured a yearly free ticket for our local lotto draw Donal O’Sullivan, Fergal Cronin and Erin O’Sullivan.

Senior Football: The Credit Union Co League commences on Sunday next with Kilcummin at home to Kenmare at 2pm.

Minor Football: Our minors put in a sterling second half performance at home last Saturday to defeat Glenbeigh/Glencar in the third round of the County Minor League. Goal scorers were Paul O’Shea, Sean O’Leary and Tom O’Connor. Next game is against Currow in two weeks.
