JUNIOR: The Kilcummin junior team captured the East Kerry junior league division one title with a fantastic all round team performance defeating Dr. Crokes in the final played in the new developed Legion pitch on Tuesday night last. As in the previous meeting of these clubs Dr.Crokes got off to the better start kicking three unanswered points in the opening eight minutes. In the 8th minute after a well worked move Jer Sheehan kicked Kilcummin opening point. Michael O’Shea added another point in the 12th minute to leave a point between the sides. A minute later after a defensive error Diarmuid O’Donoghue struck for an all important goal this was followed by further points from Ian O’Leary, Ian Devane, Robert Casey to leave Kilcummin ahead 1-5 to 0-3. Dr. Crokes replied with two late points to leave the Half Time Score- Kilcummin 1-5. Dr. Crokes 0-5. Dr. Crokes kicked the opening point of the 2nd half. In the 11th minute Ian Devane 45m free was collected by Ger Sheehan who crashed the ball to the net. This was followed by two long range points from Anthony O’Sullivan and Robert Casey. Crokes replied with a point before Kilcummin extended the lead further with points Anthony O’Sullivan, Kevin McCarthy and Ger Sheehan. Dr. Crokes kicked the final point of the game to leave the Final Score Kilcummin 2-10, Dr.Crokes 0-8. After the game East Kerry Chairman Dermot Griffin accompanied by Joan Doyle presented the James Doyle memorial trophy to the Kilcummin winning Captain Robert Casey.
