Gum Shields Compulsory From January

The G.A.A. has recently announced that it will be mandatory for players at all age grades up to and including minors to use a mouth guard in football matches and training sessions from Tuesday 1st January 2013.

The rule will then extend to cover Under-21 and adult levels from Wednesday 1st January 2014.

Players will not be allowed to take part in TRAINING OR MATCHES without a gumshield.

It is recommended that gum shields should be purchased well in advance of training and matches and worn around the house so that players can get used to the wearing of the shields and so be more comfortable with them when the season commences.
