COUNTY JUNIOR LEAGUE: Kilcummin 0-16, Dr. Crokes 2-9. The Kilcummin Junior team defeated Dr. Crokes by a point in a closely fought game played in Kilcummin on Friday night last. Kilcummin kicked the opening point from Ben Brosnan. Dr. Crokes took control kicking a goal and three points in a three minute spell. Kilcummin fought back with points from Robert Casey, Ben Brosnan, Kevin McCarthy and three well struck frees from Michael O’Sullivan to leave Kilcummin a point ahead 0-7 to 1-3. Dr Crokes regained the lead with a goal and a point. Kilcummin then lost the experience full back John Herlihy with a leg injury. Kilcummin finished the half with points from John Devane and Ben Brosnan. Half time score Kilcummin 0-9, Dr. Crokes 2-4. Kilcummin took control of the third quarter adding points from Michael O’Shea (2) and Ben Brosnan (2) to leave Kilcummin ahead 0-13 to 2-4. Dr. Crokes replied with two points before Ritchie O’Connor and Michael O’Sullivan kicked Kilcummin points. Dr. Crokes fought back with three unanswered points to leave the sides level with two minutes remaining. In the closing minute Ritchie O’Connor kicked the winning point. Final score Kilcummin 0-16. Dr. Crokes 2-9.
